DYNAMIC SOCIAL SKILLS GROUPS for kids, teens and alults,
COUNSELLING for yo, ASSESSMENTS AND WORKSHOPS

Term 2 On-Line Social Skills Groups

.

Race around the web is a 5 week on-line social skills group program to challenge a team!  Participants work in small groups to seek the clues that we have hidden in web-sites all over the world.  Beat the clock to solve the puzzle in time.

.

Make a movie with your team,  a comedy, sci-fi, fantasy, action or thriller.  Work together to create an original script, and film an animation, use puppets, or perform the movie that will be presented at the inaugural Social Learning Studio Film Festival.

...

Participants will receive a package on the morning of their group session, containing goodies that they will need to craft together, on-line with their mates.  The facilitator will guide them though the process, while participants share their work, and develop conversation skills while crafting.

All group programs are $590 and include 5 x 40minute zoom sessions, and an individual feedback and planning session with your facilitator at the conclusion.

These are small group programs, hosted via Zoom.

This term, our groups are smaller.  Groups will include 2-4 participants working with one facilitator for each program.  This ensures that everyone in the group has the space and time needed to learn and contribute in this online environment.  Groups will commence in May 2020.  Group start dates vary depending on the small group you join.

Some more general information about our groups...

At the Social Learning Studio we specialise in social learning in groups.

Social skills groups within the clinic are designed for children with high functioning autism, the shy, the anxious, the high tempered, the lonely, the bullied, and even the over enthusiastic.

Social learning is layered with levels of simplicity (as required in early childhood), to complex and sophisticated skills (as those required in adolescence and adulthood).  For this reason, we offer a range of programs to support and encourage ongoing social learning across the life span.  In order to provide a continuity of care, individuals that join our practice have ongoing access to our program, with programs changing each term to reflect the changing developmental needs of our participants.

All of our programs are research based, and many of the programs are built upon Connie's PhD candidature research of which the focus is social and emotional learning programs and the processing of social information.

Connie's programs can be referred to as 'Dynamic' social skills group programs, designed with the initial goal to engage the participants (primed for learning), equip individuals with explicit social concepts (understanding why abstract and otherwise obscure social rules exist), and provide real-life opportunities for participants to apply the skills discussed.  Skills are then consolidated (promoting transference) through practice and ongoing exposure and experience.
In 2015 Connie contributed to the Swinburne University Autism MOOC (Mass Open Online Course).  This is a free online resource for individuals with autism and their families, educators and specialists.
